Clive Nnamdi-Johnson, Head of Advice Services:

Clive Nnamdi-Johnson was a co-founder of CASL in 2010 fulfilling the role of Director of Operations. He has a strong community sector background with upward of 18 years experience in areas of public and private sector housing law and debt advice.

His specialist areas include housing possession claims, homelessness decision review and charging orders and the whole range of landlord and tenant matters.

Clive trained as a barrister and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2001 and is a member of the Honourable Society of The Middle Temple. He is also a member of the Housing Law Practitioners Association and the Institute of Money Advisers and is a certified Debt Relief Order Intermediary.


Gwen Innis - Housing and Debt Specialist:

Gwen is our associate and has over 20 years experience in housing law and over 7 years experience in debt law. She is currently an LSC supervisor in housing and debt and has worked over many years with various BME community Groups. She is a great believer in the benefit of outreach work and has promoted outreach work with a number of community groups.

Gwen currently manages the County Court scheme and has successfully represented many clients in the County Court in both housing and debt matters. Gwen has a bachelors degree in Law (with Community Law) and is a member of the Institute of Money Advisers and of the Housing Law Practitioners Association, she is a certified Debt Relief Order Intermediary.

With the depth of her qualifications and experience, Gwen is uniquely able to deliver seminars and training courses in housing, debt and money management and has consistently done so over many years. She has a strongly developed community background.

 

Alexandra Modiga - Administration & Finance Services

Alexandra Modiga joined CASL as an Administration and Finance Assistant this year.

With 7 years working in administration ,Alexandra has gained extremely valuable experience in the field,providing services for clients efficiently , solving problems and assisting with a wide variety of administrative tasks in a timely manner,meeting deadlines and using her own initiative and skills.She has considerable computing skills and manages the system and data base very effectively.

In parallel ,she has persuaded her passion for finance ,graduating with honors The Business Studies College ,from London.Her thirst for dealing with and understanding people has also developed and she is currently studying psychology in order to expand her knowledge and perfect her abilities to interact with and provide support to a diverse range of people. Her skills,experience and also her   kind sympathetic personalty contributes a unique strength to our Company.

 

John English - Development Consultant:

John English joins CASL as a consultant to the Company. Aged 64, his background is in commercial and residential property development, investment and agency. He has always had a social conscience, contributing to many charities over the years and now sees an association with CASL as a very practical way of assisting people in these very challenging economic circumstances. He brings a wealth of experience in the property and housing sectors and will be principally concerned with extending the spheres of influence and activities of CASL to reach more of those who find themselves in financial difficulties or with housing related problems.


Shalma Begum: Debt Specialist      

Shalma is our associate with over 10 years specialist experience in the money advice field. She has worked, and continues to work with a variety of organizations in order to develop expert knowledge and competencies in her chosen profession. She has a (BA) Economics degree obtained at Nottingham Trent University and has various CPD points accredited throughout her profession as well as receiving and conducting specialized training on debt matters. She has worked with a diversity of stakeholders in order to ensure our client’s get the best holistic service available. She is also a DRO Intermediary and advises on personal and commercial insolvencies.


Nessa Vartis - Senior Housing and Welfare Benefits Adviser 


Nessa graduated from London Metropolitan University in 2007, where she obtained an LLB law degree. She then went on to work for high street law firms where she specialised in all areas of social security, community care and housing laws. She has extensive experience of providing representation at County Court and First-Tier Tribunal hearings as well as dealing with appeals to the Upper Tribunal. She was mostly involved in cases concerning homelessness, possession action and access to means and non-means tested welfare benefits.

Nessa is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and a member of the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society. She regularly attends training courses and seminars to keep abreast of the recent developments in social security laws.
She has a keen interest in helping vulnerable members of the society such as financially disadvantaged families, elderly and disabled people. She enjoys working in collaboration with Community Advice Service Ltd to provide residents of Social Housing Providers with specialist advice to help them improve their financial situation by accessing the right benefits and taking positive and informed action to avoid losing their homes.
